Plátno je nejjednodušší základní typ vazby tkaniny (rub má v neupraveném stavu stejný vzhled jako líc). Plátěná podšívka je vrstva textilu, která se přichycuje (lepením, šitím) k vrchovému materiálu. Podšívka dodává vnitřku obuvi úhledný vzhled a zakrývá spoje, švy, hrubé okraje atd.
